Don Stallings
Don Stallings is a Rocky Mount native through and through, but is a citizen of the nation. He played football at Rocky Mount Senior High and at UNC Chapel Hill and then a year professionally with the Washington Redskins after which he came home to run the family business for his ill father.
He is married to the former Billie Jones of Kinston, NC and their son, Herb, is Vice Chairman of Eagle Transport Corporation. Their son, Eddie, died of congenital heart condition in 2004 which inspired them to help others by creating the Don and Billie Stallings Adult Congenital Heart Clinic at UNC.
Don is Chairman of Stallings Oil Company and in 1968 created Eagle Transport Company which is one of the top three petroleum carriers by volumn in the nation operating over 400 units through 27 terminals. Stallings has been very active with the University of North Carolina, his community and professional trade organizations.
He is a former chairman of the National Association of Truckstop Operators. He is a former board member of North Carolina Petroleum Marketers Association, Rocky Mount Chamber of Commerce, the Rocky Mount YMCA and Community in Schools. Don served on the UNC Board of Trustees from 2001 to 2009.
Don enjoys hunting, fishing, golf and UNC and Carolina football games. He and Billie travel extensively throughout the US and have visited over 80 countries.
