Dr. Glenda L. Knight

Princeville, NC Town Manager, Dr. Glenda L. Knight, grew up in Rocky Mount and is a graduate of Fayetteville State University & Walden University where she was inducted into the National Honorary Society (Psi Chi). She earned a Doctor of Psychology in 2007 being honored Magna Cum Laude from Cal-Southern University. In 2004, Dr. Knight also graduated Valedictorian from a three-year Community Fellows’ Leadership Program through Down East Partnership for Children (DEPC).

 

Knight believes in giving back to the community and for this reason, she has dedicated her time to several organizations. Most recently, she was honored by the Edgecombe County Board of Commissioners, at the County Manager’s recommendation to recognize the hard work and leadership exhibited by Dr. Knight in the Town’s recovery from the devastation of Hurricane Matthew in 2016.

 

She was the 2019 recipient of the Governor’s Medallion Award by the office of Governor Cooper and acknowledged by the County with a plaque for her hard work and leadership; exhibited during the devastation of Hurricane Matthew. She is a member of several organizations to include Psi Chi National Honorary Society, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. & Order of the Eastern Star, PHA.

 

Andrew Delonno, through Upper Coastal Plain Council of Government writes, “It is evident that she holds herself to a high standard and serves as a role model to her subordinates. The Town benefits from her positive energy, persistence, and task-oriented disposition.” Dr. Knight, continues to carry on her work professionally, courteously and tirelessly in her efforts on behalf of Princeville, N.C.
