Coach Herman BooneHerman Boone

One of 12 children of Frank and Daisy Boone, Herman Boone graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Rocky Mount. After graduating from NC Central University with both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master’s degree, Mr. Boone began his teaching and coaching career in Virginia. He returned to NC in 1961 as coach in Williamston. In nine years Coach Boone had five regional championships and two state championships. In 1971 he went to Alexandria, Virginia where he became the head coach of an integrated high school football team, leading them to a 13-0 record, winning the state championship and earning #2 national ranking… as told in the film Remember the Titans. He is a generous contributor to support youth and to address other community needs.
